The Basilica Cathedral of Cusco

Around 1:00 p.m., we begin our City Tour in the city of Cusco, we will pick you up from your hotel at the indicated time, our first stop will be the Basilica Cathedral of the Virgin of the Assumption, a construction of more than 550 years of antiquity and located in the Plaza de Armas of Cusco. It was specifically built in the year 1560 over the Inca Wiracocha palace.

Its structure is impressive and still preserves old structures from the colonial period. But its greatest treasures are located within it, upon entering you can enjoy more than 300 paintings from the Cusqueña School, and works in embossed silver and carved wood.

Qoricancha Temple.

Our next stop will be the Temple of Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun, also known as the Santo Domingo Convent, which is a fusion of the Catholic Church and the Temple of the Sun, considered one of the most important of the Inca Empire. From the outside you can see its beauty as much as the interior and exterior you can observe the fusion between the Inca and Spanish culture inside you can also observe Inca paintings and structures with fine and unique finishes.

Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park

Continuing our city tour through the city of Cusco we will have to visit an enigmatic place called Sacsayhuaman. Sacsayhuaman is an Inca fortress made of huge carved stones, approximately 9 meters high and weighing at least 100 tons. Each of these stones are arranged in an organized manner and in perfect position to form three platforms 390 meters long.

Parque arqueológico de Qenqo.

Nuestra siguiente parada es Qenqo ubicada a 4 Km, al noreste de Cusco, etimológicamente, significa laberinto o zigzag, es un centro de culto y ceremonias dedicado a la madre tierra, en la parte exterior se encuentra un anfiteatro de forma semicircular con nichos trapezoidales y un monolito que probablemente fue un puma.

Puca Pucara Archaeological Park.

Puca Pucara, located 8km from Cusco, also known as the red fortress, is composed of large walls, terraces, and stairways that served as a defensive complex for the imperial city. In addition to the fortress, other archaeological structures such as aqueducts, enclosures, and fountains can be seen. Due to its proximity to Tambomachay and its characteristics, it is believed that it was a military fort to defend this place.

Our last stop will be the archaeological park of Tambomachay, which was a Temple dedicated to water and a resting place for the Inca nobility. It is made up of carved rocks, which form a beautiful set of channels and waterfalls, which come from the nearby springs and hot springs, which is why this place was a place of worship to water.

Remember: City Tour starts at the Cusco Cathedral and ends at Plaza Regocijo, half a block from Plaza de Armas.
