Sacred Valley Day Tour

Launch yourself into the Inca world through this tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, as we take you to visit some of their most impressive buildings and temples. As we drive towards our first stop, the town of Pisaq, you can look down into the luscious green valley, still as agriculturally important today as it was in the time of the Incas. In Pisaq, we will visit the famous market just below the ruins, full of bright coloured jewels, alpaca wear and so much more. Then we move on to the archaeological ruin at the top of the mountain, named the same as the town(“Archaeological center of pisaq”). After this, we head to the pretty and peaceful town of Urubamba for a buffet lunch.

In the afternoon, we head to the archaeological centre of Ollantaytambo, a place of rest and strategic passage towards the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, full of history and magic. At these ruins you’ll stare in disbelief at the size of the rocks at the top of the structure, knowing they were taken from the other side of the Valley, and stand where the Incas stood during the Conquest, when they used Ollantaytambo as a stronghold for one of the battles and won.

Next stop in the route is Chinchero, where we’ll have a tour of the Catholic Church there, built and finished in the early 1600’s. Like many churches and structures built by the Spanish in and around Cusco, an Inca palace was used as the foundations for the church. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that this was discovered. From Chinchero, we will return to Cusco.
